IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW SMA INTERFACE

Data connection with SMA Sunny Portal and SMA Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS

SMA provides plant operators with various systems for plant monitoring (PV monitoring). The plant data is transmitted to the SMA Sunny Portal or the SMA Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS. Special web-based data interfaces are required so that this data can be retrieved by third-party systems such as SOLARFOX®. This means that there is server-based communication between SOLARFOX® and SMA in which the required raw data is transmitted automatically. SMA has introduced a chargeable interface for this data retrieval. To ensure the simplest and most customer-friendly process possible for system operators and installers, SOLARFOX® covers the connection of the system and the billing in one process.

A paid subscription is required for each SMA connection. The subscription always refers to a period of 12 months, during which you can cancel the subscription at any time. If the subscription has not been cancelled, it will be automatically extended for another 12 months after the 12 months have expired. If you cancel the subscription, data retrieval will continue until the subscription expires.

To handle the billing, the user can store his individual payment data in the course of setting up and linking the SMA connection. Billing can be carried out either directly via the system operator or the installer.

The cost of the subscription varies depending on the PV system size and a 14-day right of withdrawal applies to end consumers based in the EU.

The following payment methods are currently supported:
Paypal, credit card, direct debit

(Please note that these are automated annual billing transactions. Payment by invoice is not possible for technical reasons).

Frequently asked questions:

Why is a conversion necessary?

SMA has discontinued and fundamentally updated the previous data interface. The new server-side data interface provides a basis for future enhanced functions and higher system performance. However, SMA no longer offers the higher level of service free of charge, so an annual flat-rate charge is required for direct data retrieval by third-party systems.

Is it possible to do the technical configuration as a reseller/installer and pass on the execution of the payment to the end customer?

Yes, this is possible. The payment can be done separately from the configuration. For this, you need to forward the link for the purchase process from the online administration to the customer.

Is an on-site appointment required for the conversion?

No, there is no need for an on-site appointment. You can conveniently perform the conversion remotely via a browser.

Is it possible to process more than one system at a time?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. An individual subscription has to be purchased for each system.

As an installer, can I take over the first payment and pass it on to the customer in the future?

After the payment has been completed, you will receive a link to the overview and administration of your subscriptions. You can pass this link on to the client after the first payment. There you or your customer can store and save the new billing data.

Of course you can also use data loggers or monitoring systems from other providers such as Solar-Log, Meteocontrol, etc.. These interfaces are currently not chargeable.
